Living
in a busy social, have you ever gotten tired and want to go somewhere makes you
feel better? Let’s go to Ben Tre! It is located 85 kilometers to the west from
Ho Chi Minh City. It is considered “a green island” of Me Kong Delta, which is a fresh and quiet countryside.
If
someone asks me what makes Ben Tre famous, I will answer “Coconut”. This is
“haven of coconut”! Ben Tre is the province that coconut to be planted the most
Viet Nam. And coconut has variety of categories. For example: Siamese coconut, we
have Red Siamese, Yellow Siamese, Green Siamese, Fire Siamese,… Many kinds with
many flavors! As you know, coconut water can be used directly to slake,
specially on muggy summer days. It also takes an important part in Ben Tre
cuisine. Coconut water in fried shimps or meat helps our dishes more delicious.
Coconut milk is a key to making pastry, coconut jam, coconut candy and
rice-paper cakes because it is fleshy, sweet and scented. Moreover, people
usually combine coconut milk with homegrown ingredient such as yam, pumpkin,
black bean, red bean…to make a lot of food. I am sure that many visitors will
love them.
Ben
Tre is not only famous for coconut but aslo known as “a heroic land”. As
Vietnamese people, we surely know Nguyen Thi Dinh. She is the first female
minister of the People’s Army of Viet
Nam, who was the leader of “Toc Dai Cohort”. Her temple was founded in Giong
Trom district with her bronze portrait statue awarded by the Ministry of
Defence. Another hero is Nguyen Dinh Chieu poet. He wasn't born in Ben Tre but the
most of his life lived there. He
composed many poets to fight enemy indirectly as well as opened school and
cured for the poor. Mo Cay district
inhabitant built the tomb to commemorate his desert.
When
we visit Ben Tre, our tour are able to have a chance to enjoy fruit gardens in
Phung Islet. It is one of Chau Thanh district. Go to fruit gardens, pick fresh
fruit and eat immediately! It’s very
wonderful, do you think so? In addition, you can row a wherry by youself after
being guided. How exciting it is!
