Saigon or also officially known as Ho Chi Minh City – one of the biggest, beautiful, charming but a bit chaotic places you can find in Vietnam as well as on over Asia. When it comes to travelling and exploring this great city, do you really know what to do in order to best enjoy the awesome atmosphere in there???
First and foremost, I must say that there will be a lot of things that always await you to discover!!! But there are always must-try things you should never miss out when coming here, and are you curios and want to find out what they are??? If you are, I won’t say anything else but showing you all 3 things that I believe you don’t want to try. Here we go!!!
Go to Ben Thanh Market and try bargainning
Ben Thanh Market
Locate at the liveliest and most central area in the City, Ben Thanh market actually is the most easy-to-reach place of Saigon, attracting everyone coming here for the first time right for the first sight. Hanging around this large marketplace, you will have the chance to find out and try most common foods and specialties made by Saigonese like dried fruit, local vegetables, famous spices, sweets, scorpions in alcohol, and so on. Besides, it’s also very easy to get great souvenir items, wristwatch, blingtastic jewelry and a lot of other interesting things. Just one more thing you should keep in mind is that considering and bargaining vigorously as buying any item selling in there, because the vendors determine prices higher than usual.
Visiting Cu Chi Tunnels
Cu Chi Tunnel Diagram
As its name, Cu Chi Tunnel places at Cu Chi district, which seems as an incredible immense network connecting very large underground area. As a whole, it includes 2 sections of tunnel network with one is near Ben Dinh village and the other locates 15 km beyond Ben Duoc. Because of being built and used in Vietnam War, it has become a war memorial part that attracts a lot of tourists coming to visit annually. In both sides of the tunnel, low-power lights were completely installed to make the travel much easier. You can also find different kinds of booby traps that all were used in the war. More interestingly, all visitors coming here may try a simple meal of Vietnamese soldiers. That’s all so awesome!!!
Trying Street Foods
Saigon Street Food
Like Hanoi, Saigon is really famous for its amazing street foods. From my very own perspective, you must extremely regret without trying the world’s tastiest street foods, popular selling on the sidewalks of many roads and streets in Saigon. Commonly, price ranges of those kinds of foods are very low, about $3 for a typical large meal of rice, meat and vegetables. But as enjoying these meals in a 5-star restaurant, you may pay around $50 or more but sometime the tastes are as not good as actual street food’s. However, with such a really low price range (tips are irregular), you have to accept the fact of poor service and threats of picking pocket.
They are absolutely 3 things you need to try out as having the time travelling around Saigon. Still, there are so many, many other great things waiting for you discover little and little. Let’s come and see on your own!!!
