Bat Xat District is a mountainous district located in Northwest of Lao Cai province. It has an important terrain for economy, society and national defense- provincial security. Natural area is 1.061,89 kilometers square, over 70 percent of which is hills and mountains. The district include14 ethnic minorities who hold 82%.
Although a mountainous district Bat Xat is not as famous as Bac Ha or Sapa, it was marked with an attractive tourist site in the tourist map of the province. Bat Xat is the riverhead of “Red River falling into Vietnam”. The local government has decided to recognize some public tourist sites and allow invest a number of tourist routes within 3 years.
Bat Xat is mountainous district which locates in the Northeast of Lao Cai province with fragmented terrain, high mountains, deep valleys, numerous streams and jungles, along with the villages located on the slopes and deep valleys creating a mysterious and wild place. It is suitable for adventurous tourists passing through the famous landmarks like the Vuoc, Muong Hum, the Rat, Trinh Tuong.
Bat Xat has not only stunning nature and landscapes but also vibrant cultural lifestyle of ethnic minority people such as Giay, Dao, Mong and Ha Nhi. Each one has diverse traditional culture in different seasons .
Over the past few years, foreign tourists have known Bat Xat District through tours. Most of them have taken their time to take part in daily activities of the community in the villages of Bat Xat.
