Ao Chau Pond: Green Pearl in Ha Hoa District

Ao Chau Pond is widely referred to as the mini version of Halong Bay in Phu Tho, the world-wide famous natural heritage of Vietnam as the pond is endowed with fresh, green, crystal-clear water  and surrounded by an intricate system of caves and grottoes and copious composition of fauna and flora in Xuan Son Forest, Gioi Pon, and Ten Strem that can ravish any fastidious visitor.

Ao Chau Pond covers a total area of almost 3km2, spreading over three communes including Am Ha, Am Thuong, and Y Son in Ha Hoa District. The site is 70km far from VietTri City and 50km from Phu Tho and easily accessible if you wish to reach there overland, by waterway or railway. For ones going by car, take the National road No. 2 since the route is the main connection between the capital city and other northern provinces. Otherwise, you can buy boat tickets to Ao Chau Pond  to travel on Red river, Da river or Lo river.

The Ao Chau tourist site occupies an entire area of 1.500 hectares and features a packet of activities open to  visitors’ choice such as rowing, fishing, mountain climbing, etc…
 There are 99 branches that worm their way through nearly 100 hills and islands, then finally pour into Ao Chau pound. Undoubtedly, the pound boasts vast blue water remaining calm all year through. At nights , the Pound’s water gently glistens in the moonlight and reflects the images of exuberant fruit-trees growing on its bank. Thanks to the favorable weather and rich land, tourists visiting Ao Chau Pond have chances to taste heaven-like, fresh local fruits hanging from litchi, jackfruit, pomelo trees on the bank of the pond.

The highest peak of the islands surrounding Ao Chau Pond is recorded as 177m above sea level. The deepest bottom of the pond is claimed to be 35m and be always filled with abundant and limpid water originated from different streams.
