According to the book “History of Vietnam” publisher of Social Sciences in 1971: Kiều Công Thuận is a leader of soldiers in Hội Hồ (Cẩm Khê), he often met with Ma Xuân Trường- the Mayor of Phú An (Phú Thọ Province today) in an effort to secure villagers’ lives. Often travelling to Phú An, Kiều Công Thuận would stop in Khuôn hamlet to wait for the Mayor’s boat. Kiều Công Thuận were helped devotedly by two women in Khuôn hamlet, who were relatives to Ma Xuân Trường. Before long, Kiều Công Thuận received the lady with the family name Ma and her daughter as foster- mother and adoptive sister.
After the adoptive mother of Kiều Công Thuận died, the Phú An villagers built a temple to worship her in Khuon hamlet. After the adoptive sister of Kieu Cong Thuan died, the villagers also set up a shrine known as “Co Temple”, 30 meter far from Mau Khuon Temple.
At the first place, Mau Khuon Temple was constructed merely with bamboo, wood, and dried leaves. Through many overhauls and renovations, in 1943, the temple became a high, large and spacious place, and most holy in this zone.
Around the temple, there are two perennial with luxuriant foliage, a star-fruit tree with green leaves all year round, brilliant purple flowers, laden with fruits.
For many years, especially in the full moon day, day of the month, pilgrims from Hanoi, Viet Tri and many other places often come here to pray for a prosperous life as well as sightsee in Mau Khuon Temple.
